Last week Girard-Perregaux launched a couple of press releases of new or modified models being released. Besides the Laureato Absolute Light, the 1966 collection has been expanded with 3 new models featuring an aventurine dial. Tagged the Orion Trilogy, the watches are modified versions of the classic 40mm 1966 Time and Date.
Three versions as the “trilogy” gives it away will be available, a steel or pink gold with the same blue aventurine dial and a steel with black DLC coating case and a black aventurine dial. Aventurine has been used before on the Ladies Cat’s Eye watches as dial material and provides a unique starry night like pattern. However, I’m not sure if this is the right dial for a men’s watch.
What actually concerns me though is the logo print on the dial. GP, please do NOT put the bridge logo on every dial, it looks tacky. I’m okay to promote it as the logo on company material and website but really it has no place on the dial. I seriously hope this is not a change we will see in future models.
