Introducing an old love of mine, the Patek Philippe Gondolo 3842. Why an old love? When I lived in Singapore in the late 90s, there was this one watch shop that had this watch in the window and countless times I had my nose on that window. This classic Patek has just something very special.
It’s not the most fashionable or popular of all Patek’s, not at all. But that wonderful tonneau case in this ultra-thin case ( a mere 5mm) and the classic applied Breguet numerals, simple yet with so many fine details.
Back in the 90s, I was close, but never really managed to get it. More than 20 years later, an opportunity came to me and I did not hesitate. It’s like no other watch in my collection and with autumn/winter not far, it’s a great watch hiding under a jumper or shirt. A detailed review is in the making.
