news: Girard-Perregaux Quasar Azure as an appetiser of new novelties?

Recently, Girard-Perregaux has released a new version of the Quasar triple bridge tourbillon. The Azure tagged version now sports a blue-tinted sapphire case versus the white transparent case previously.

Other than that, it is the same watch as the Quasar Light. So in my book, this is not really a novelty, but rather a variation. However, GP has now announced on Instagram that next week during the Geneva Watch Days they will unveil their 2020 novelties. I’m equally keen like anyone else to learn what GP will have prepared for us.

I have mentioned it here before that I believe strongly the collection needs a refresher, not only with high horology showpieces but in the bread-and-butter collections of the Laureato, 1966 and Vintage 1945. Together with some needed consolidation, this would be a great opportunity to set things up for 2021. Let’s just kick 2020 into the bin.

Once unveiled, I will report back here and share my views.
