news: Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Chronograph, Ref. 81060

Probably one of the most controversial novelties from Girard-Perregaux over decades, the Laureato Absolute divides the GP fan community. Regardless of that, it was the new release at SIHH this year that took centre stage at the GP booth.

I’m not (yet) taking a stab at reviewing the Laureato Absolute, for that I for one had simply not spend enough time with it and for two, I’m probably more in the camp of the community that view the Laureato Absolute rather skeptical. Why is that? It just does not feel like a Girard-Perregaux to me, Too big, too fashionable and wanting to be some other brand (without naming any).

I always come to the defence of the Laureato when there are claims that it is a copy of the Royal Oak and/or Nautilus, which I firmly believe has no foundation, but with the Absolute, I would not put my head out of the window. Let’s leave it like that and enjoy the live wristshot for now.
