Let me show you something from the very early days of alarm watches. After the patent was filed in 1949, in 1950 the alarm wirst watch with central disc and manual wind was introduced, marketed as “Memovox” with the Jaeger-LeCoultre brand in Europe and “Wrist Alarm” as LeCoultre watches for the U.S. market. Later the name “Wrist Alarm” was dropped and the more catchy “Memovox” was used for all markets. This LeCoultre Wrist Alarm here is not uncommon, but as many others, mine was in not so great condition.
It was gifted to me by a friend as a “project” for restoration. Luckily, the dial was in good condition, while the plexi was in horrible state and the alarm was not working at all. My trusted watchmaker did a stellar job repairing the movement, giving the case new shine and restoring some of the lume on the dial and hands. I do not have any info on the actual reference number. The case is as often for the U.S. market only gold-filled. What I like most is the ivory colour of the dial with this distinct silver ring and its minute track. The sword hands also add a lot of visual pleasure.
