from/my/collection: Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox Parking 3161

Let’s stay with Jaeger-LeCoultre a bit this month, maybe even make January a Jaegeruary. And another Memovox from my collection that although has been with me for quite some time, I did not share yet here. The Memovox 3161 was part of the 125 year Jubilee collection from 1958 as was also the Geophysic E168.

That collection had some nice interpretations of the just established Alarm function of the JLC Memovox, the Ref 3160 Memovox International, a kind of world timer paired with the rotating alarm disc (still searching for one of those…) and this Reference 3161 with a Parking Alarm. You move the desired or better pre-paid parking duration to the position of the hour hand and when your Parking time runs out, you will be reminded with an alarm as the hour hand has moved on to the alarm trigger position, here with the cool little blue P for Parking on the dial. Really cool idea and a cool look for all car enthusiasts like me.

The case is a small 35 mm here in Yellow Gold but wears perfectly fine as there is a lot of action on the dial. Unlike shown on the Jubilee brochure where the Memovox Parking is displayed with the French case (it’s a French market brochure) the “normal” 3161 has sharper lines and a slightly thicker case overall. Winding Caliber K 814 is a real joy as it is very smooth with the right level of resistance and feedback.
