Let’s have a look at another variant of the Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 Chronograph 2599. Here we have a white gold case with white guilloche dial and rose gold indexes and hands. The full Reference number is 25990.0.53.1161. This watch was the second GP I ever bought and I can say was the watch that triggered me building a collection of Girard-Perregaux watches.
Much has been said about the case of the Vintage 1945, probably one of the best designs of watch cases ever, be it round or rectangular. The curves of the case and the fine details of the dial, made me really look much deeper into the brand and very quickly adding like 10 modern Girard-Perregaux watches, building an initial collection.
Since then my collection has evolved a lot and with the interest in vintage watches has taken a very different shape, but I’m still very much influenced by the beginning of my passion and put the modern GP watches from the 1990s and 2000s at a very special place in my heart.
The white gold 2599 has been replaced in my collection by a steel 2599 which will now stay, but I do sometimes think that letting this white gold one go, was a stupid move.
