from/my/collection: Gyromatic week, part 4: Reference 6839

The Gyromatic world is large and very diverse. So you can imagine my surprise when I first came across Ref. 6839 from the 1950s. A round case with triangular cuts almost like a diamond cutting. I suspect this was done to provide as much light play as possible without actually using precious stones. Diamonds on a watch are a bit of a no-go in my view, but these shaped cases are quite interesting.

What makes it even better, the dial has aged and developed a tropical brown colour. The colour is quite in your face and really surprising when you first see it in real, but that’s how some of these black dials have aged. No date Gyromatic, so by now you can probably guess that is has Caliber 21.
