quick/peek: Girard-Perregaux Cosmos, the winding and setting mechanism

Introduced at SIHH 2019, the Girard-Perregaux Cosmos is another signature grand complication watch from the blue house on the hill. Unlike most watches, it comes without a crown. The Cosmos has too many settings to work with a crown, hence Girard-Perregaux opted for an alternative.

At the backside, you have 4 levers for winding and setting. A big central lever winds the main barrel and three smaller levers take care of the settings. The middle one, symbolised by an hourglass sets the time. The lever to the right with a little starry sky symbol sets the celestial globe and the one on the left is setting the terrestrial globe. A clever way to resolve the challenge of those multiple settings.
