“Earth to Sky” was this years theme of Girard-Perregaux at SIHH 2019 in Geneva, emphasising blue and black colours across the collection and picking up the universe theme with novelties such as the Cosmos and the Quasar.

The Laureato collection also added a special edition “Earth to Sky” by taking the last years black ceramic Laureato Skeleton and adding a blue theme with blued bridges of the skeleton movement. The bridges are PVD treated for the blue colouration.

Live shot, movement

The black ceramic is a fascinating material, black through and through so durability is ensured and combined with an unrivalled lightness makes it a very comfortable watch to wear. It is difficult to describe but the material feels really metallic with a cool touch and a very solid feel to it.

A looker on the wrist

Working with ceramic to make watch cases is no easy achievement. Ceramic by nature is a very bristle material and hard to machine and form. Adding brushed and polished finishes requires special machinery and skills. But the effort is worth it as the result is quite stunning.

A very modern interpretation of the classic wrist watch timepiece.
