Yesterday, I did a quick day trip to visit the Girard-Perregaux headquarters at La Chaux-de-Fonds. Main reason was to drop some watches for a needed service and of course to also catch up with the team at GP. It is always a pleasure to see them and exchange thoughts.
morning clouds over the Jura mointains
When driving to La Chaux-de-Fonds via Basel it is like a trip into watchmaking history by just reading town names. Grenchen, Landeron and Peseux are on the way. And of course many watch manufacture buildings such as Rolex, ETA, Tissot and of course Ulysse Nardin to finally reach Place Giradet and the Blue House of the Girard-Perregaux Headquarters.
Of course, I had to take the obligatory wristshot, this time taking my Girard-Perregaux 1966 Annual Calendar and Equation of Time (Ref 49538) back home to its place of birth. Thankfully, I could take this one back home with me as this watch is not yet due for a service.
It is yet too early to share some of the changes that are happening with the new Management (the new CEO Patrick Pruniaux came at the helm a bit over 7 months ago), but there are surely good news awaiting us and expect to see some of those being reported after the summer holidays.
Villa Jean Richard – hopefully soon the home of the planned new museum
On the way back, Spring was really showing its best side with warm and sunny weather. So: “Good Bye, Switzerland”, see you next time!
