Let’s close the year with a recent find in the Girard-Perregaux vintage camp. The manual wind Chronometer HF, Ref. 8856 is one of my favourite vintage GPs and no stranger to my collection. It is often overlooked by its more famous cousin, the Caliber 32A automatic-winding Chronometer HF and it’s C-Shape References 8795 and 9086, but to me, it is even more classic 60s look.
double trouble: a yellow and a pink gold 8856
So for a quick/peek I want to share a 8856 in pink gold which is a nice addition to my yellow gold 8856. What’s more, the pink gold 8856 is coming in an overall excellent condition with its original box. No, it is not New-Old-Stock, but hardly worn, unpolished and feels like a new watch on the wrist. So, I think this proves that even in 2024, you can still find those excellent condition vintage watches at a reasonable price, you just need to look at the right places and know what you are looking for.
