Some classic 60s Chronograph from Girard-Perregaux, the Ref. 6558, advertised as Waterproof as can be read on the dial. But wait, did I say “Girard-Perregaux”. If you follow the market, you may have seen a Chronograph exactly like this recently sold by Shuck-The-Oyster in Germany but with “Excelsior Park” on the dial. It is well-known that GP used Excelsior Park movements in its Chronographs but you should also know that Excelsior Park marketed the same dial/case watches with their brand. Who then was the originator and who the copycat remains in the dark. What is very clear, in the 60s and 70s doing these kind of cooperations were very common. Something not exclusive to the watch industry when you think that a Renault can be rebranded as a Mercedes-Benz to give one example.
