wristshot: Girard-Perregaux 1966, Enamel Dial, Ref. 49534

Let’s continue to catch up with some new and old watches from/my/collection. I have written about the 1966 Dress Watch line from Girard-Perregaux a lot in the past and I have different models from that collection. What is common to all is that the case of the 1966 is one of the most elegant and most comfortable to wear watch case in existence. Especially the lug design is very thoughtful and will make this watch fit in most sizes, whether 38, 40 or even 42mm. Okay, I admit the 44mm versions are too large, at least for me, but the rest works very well.

While I have a complicated 1966 with the Annual Calendar and Equation of Time, simplicity is a complication on its own. Finding the right balance in a dial design for a time-only watch is not easily achieved. What GP however did with the Enamel Dial 1966 here, is simply outstanding. The milky shine of Enamel is very special and then the black Breguet numerals and small seconds with a red 60. Blued hands add to a vintage feel.

The eternal question however is, is Rose Gold or White Gold better. It’s a tough call. I leaned towards Rose Gold but when I then saw it in White Gold, I changed my mind. I think in the end there is only one correct answer and that is: Both!
